Meet Mary MacInnis, A client of Gordon's Estate Services. We asked her a couple questions about downsizing and moving. Here are her answers:
How was the process of selling the house?
Well Gordon’s looked after all that, it sold in about three days and I got the price that I wanted. So I was very lucky that way.
And did you move in here first and then put the house on the market?
No, the house was on the market I didn’t move until the sale had gone through.
Was that hard in terms of going from a home to a smaller living space like this? How did you decide what to bring and what to leave?
That was very difficult. Well maybe the space decided it. I used to have three bedrooms now I only have one. I had a separate dining area, kitchen, and a lot more space than I have here, but you have to make up your mind and get rid of a lot of things. I wish I had gotten rid of more than I did because lack of storage space is a bit of a problem
How did the process go from moving from your house into retirement, was that stressful for you? Were you anxious / excited about it?
Well I wasn’t particularly excited, but I want anxious because it was my own decision. Some people are here because somebody else decides for them and that’s very hard, but I made my own decision and I don’t have any family in the city so I did it and Gordon’s looked after everything for me, which was great!
