What started as a single auctioneer in 1958 is now Ontario’s largest full-service downsizing and estate brokerage, still family-run, still built on the same idea: nobody should have to do this alone.
Gordons began with a simple observation. In 1958, founder Gordon Senior noticed that families settling estates and downsizing later in life were left to coordinate dozens of moving parts on their own: the auction, the realtor, the movers, the cleaners, the appraisers. Each one a separate phone call, a separate invoice, a separate stranger in the home during one of the hardest seasons of a family’s life. He believed there was a better way. So he built it. Over the decades that followed, his son Barry, daughter-in-law Alicia, and grandson Adam expanded the business from a Kingston auctioneering practice into a province-wide brokerage that handles real estate, contents, appraisals, and move management under one roof.
Three generations. One promise.
Today, Gordons serves families across Southern Ontario from a Kingston headquarters and regional teams in the GTA, Durham, Ottawa, and Quinte. We’ve sold over 1,000 properties and managed the sale of more than 100,000 individual items through our MaxSold partnership. The team has grown. The technology has changed. But the original promise hasn’t moved an inch: one partner, one plan, everything handled, so families can focus on what comes next instead of what’s left behind.
