Do I have to live in Vaughan to act as the executor of an estate there?

No, you don't have to live in Vaughan or even in Ontario to serve as an estate trustee. Many executors we help live in another city or province and manage the estate remotely, with our single point of contact and on-the-ground team in York Region.

How long does it take to settle an estate in Vaughan?

Most estates take eight to twelve months to settle fully, though simpler ones move faster. The common guideline in Ontario is the executor's year. Selling the property and clearing contents are usually the longest steps.

Can Gordons handle both a Woodbridge house and a condo or other property?

Yes. Whether the estate includes a detached home in East Woodbridge, a townhome in Maple, or a condo near Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, we manage the sale and contents for each with one team.

Will using Gordons reduce what the estate keeps?

No. Our goal is to protect and often grow the estate's value. Selling contents through auction recovers money that would otherwise be lost, and interim funding means the estate isn't drained by upfront costs.

What does the first consultation cost?

Nothing. The first consultation is free and carries no obligation. We'll walk the property with you, answer your questions, and provide free certified appraisals so you can decide what's right with no pressure.

“I was dreading the move and I still can’t believe how well it went. Everybody involved was so kind, helpful and patient that I never felt worried. When it came to selling my house, Sherry was so patient, explaining everything and not pushing me to make a decision.”

“I hired Gordons when I was recently called upon to act as an estate trustee. They cleaned out an entire lifetime of household goods and personal effects from a home, arranged for minor renovations to prepare the house for listing, and sold the house for fair market value. ”
